The Autumn Leaf, Doleschallia bisaltide pratipa (C. & R. Felder)

This butterfly is common in villages, recreational areas like waterfalls and forest reserves, quarries and even roadsides but because of its rather shy and distrustful nature, it is not readily photographed (It has a tendency to fly at the slightest movement to approach it). It has an affinity for concrete structures but also visit flowers like Lantana and Chromolaena found at the edge of secondary growths and wastelands. The undersides can show variable coloration and shades (see pix).

Above photos from 11 May 2013 @11:05. This particular butterfly seemed to be "overfriendly" by opposition to its shy nature because the butterfly was actually "tracking" me by following me along the jungle path to and fro and repeatedly settled on my hat, my shirt, my arms and on my camera!
