The Blue Admiral, Kaniska canace perakana (Distant)

Though strictly speaking this butterfly was captured (photo) outside of Raub's frontier at Gunung Brinchang (Cameron Highlands) @ 2032M above sea level, it is still a lock of land that is connected directly to where I usually track butterflies (between the border of Pahang and Perak). This is a swift butterfly with an extremely cryptic underside and I saw it on the Mossy Jungle trail back in 4 September 2010. It settled obliquely on the bridge's edges hence the unusual angle but it was the only very brief opportunity that I had...Later, I found the same specimen settling on a rain-soaked fire pit left by some trekkers on the roadside. I almost missed it because of its cryptic undersides having almost identical patterns and colours to the burnt wood ashes and pebbles...

It has been recorded also from Fraser's Hills but is very scarce in recent years.
