This large butterfly is a regular in villages as well as jungle paths and forested patches. It can be seen throughout the year and especially abundant in the warmer months of March-April-May. Males were seen congregating with other species of butterflies on moist spots in the afternoon. The females display polymorphism whereby they take on the forms of other poisonous butterflies for protection.

Female form butlerianus (Rothschild).
The white patch on the forewing is is situated on the tornal area, ressembling an oversized Atrophaneura varuna female.
