This is one of the largest butterfly of the deep shades and when surprised, will fly shortly and display a beautiful orange-brown flash against its white post-discal bands on its forewings (visible on its undersides). It almost ressembles a very huge Xanthotaenia busiris in flight and they share the same habitats.
