The Forest Hopper, Astictopterus jama jama (C. & R. Felder)

This is a common insect to be found around a forested patch and may sometimes be overlooked because of its rather drab appearance (dark brown, unmarked upper and undersides). It looks like a smaller and slimmer version of the Chocolate Demon and are found in the same vicinities, although this is a more likely butterfly to be encountered on a sunny spot, even on moist spots! However, it does fly around in the earlier part of the morning and tends to retreat to the shadier parts of the forest in the later part of the morning.
