The Golden Birdwing, Troides aeacus malaiianus (Fruhstorfer)

This male was photographed visiting a hibiscus shrub along the edge of an Orang Asli village. It can be easily distinguished from the others by the black-dusted submarginal edge in space 2, 3 & 4 on the hindwing (see illustration below). The male is rather dimunitive in size in comparison to T. helena (compare it to the size of the pompom hibiscus bloom).
